Born in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Josiah Almosara pulls inspiration from Japanese culture. Growing up in an Air Force family, he has lived in and seen many different cultures, including areas of England, Japan and Hawaii.

By mixing the abstract with hints of reality, his art cogitates the subject matter and creates a void for viewers to create their own story while leading them with a hint of reality. He adds depth to his art with varying ink and drawing techniques along with other media.

His signature style reflects the fluidity of ink and its drips. Japanese noh masks and koi fish are some of his favorite subjects to express motion in his art work.
